my 2020 vision and goals

2019 was a big year for me. If I could summarize it in a sentence it would be exploring my edges. The edges of growth and possibility, honing my coaching skills, challenging myself to hike long days in epic storms, and openly taking a stand on issues I believe in. I also turned 40 which was truly special to celebrate with several adventures and good friends.

To help me get clear on 2020 I went on retreat with my teacher Gloria Latham. As someone who holds retreats it was so good to be on the receiving end of taking the time to tune into what most matters to me now.

why vision and goal set

Vision and Goals is the most powerful way I know to make the most of your time. Life is measured in how you spend your time. How you spend your time is everything you say yes and no to. That’s why Vision and Goal Setting matters — so you’re not at the whims of life but in command of your ship, sailing on your path.

If you’re new to goal setting, head over to my how-to guide for creating powerful goals.

See how I did with my 2019 goals here.

my 2020 vision

I have been using a new method to get clear on my vision. It’s from my teacher who framed it with the question:

What is the one thing you can do that would change everything?

The one thing that if it became the hub of my vision would ripple out into everything else in my life. For me, that’s joy.

In all the serious important work I do to help people rise into their purpose and be a force for positive change in the world, I dismissed happiness as part of it. In 2019 I felt the affects of that, both on myself, the work I do, and the level of social change I can catalyze.

my 2020 goals

I DO WORK THAT I 100% LOVE WITH PEOPLE I 100% LOVE. PERIOD.

I had this goal for 2018 and 2019 and I am officially keeping this as a goal from here on out. Having this goal helps me stay focused, true to myself and the impact I want to have. It means pausing and checking in with every opportunity that comes my way to see if it’s a HECK YES for me. That way you can be sure that my YES means something.

Some things I’ve already said HECK YES for 2020 to are:

  • Coaching, coaching, coaching — I LOVE coaching! This the area I am focused on growing in my business and I’m super excited for the stellar people already coaching with me in 2020

  • Being resident coach for Proof and their amazing team (Big love to co-founders Wes, Luke and Ben for all you do)

  • Hosting two women’s retreats!

  • Co-leading a People Leadership Immersion with Matt Corker (!!)

  • Leading Vega Day at Vega’s whole team AGM

  • Collaborating with my pals at The Corker Collective

  • Helping Somerville Academy and badass CEO Katie Jeanes activate their vision and goals for more women in tech

I PUBLISH A BOOK OF POETRY BY AUGUST 14 2020

Two years ago I had a goal of writing a self-help book that just wasn’t… working. I didn’t want to be another “get rich/healthy/happy quick” author and more importantly, coaching is about you being emopowered to find your way, not me giving you a 12-step program.

When I was a kid I wanted to be a poet. I got a degree in literature and then creative writing and was getting published in a few anotholgies. Then I stopped writing. This past year I’ve come back to writing poems on instagram and the feedback has been so positive.

I’m ready now. I will self-publish a book for poetry that is human, hopeful, and invites you to reach for the person you are capable of becoming. PS this by when is my birthday!

THE FIRST PEACE CABIN OPENS BY OCTOBER 1 2020

One of my 2019 goals was to have the first Peace Cabin built — and it’s been a steep learning curve. Lots of things got done this year (well water location, installing a hydro pole, clearing a driveway, finding tradespeople). After an epic search we’ve hired Steve Chan of Carmanah Projects to build our cabins. Follow our journey on Instagram.

I HOST MY FIRST INTERNATIONAL RETREAT BY NOVEMBER 14 2020

hosting Focus 2020 — a women’s retreat in Nosara, Costa Rica. A week of vision and goal setting, sunshine, surf, and the space to map out the next year so you’re ready to go once January hits. I’m so pumped for this! Learn more and sign up.

I AM A WOLF OF LOVE BY JUNE 30 2020

This goal directly relates to my hub for the coming year: joy. This is all I’ll say about this goal as it’s personal and I want to keep it sacred. You’ll see the ripple effects of this one as I bring it to life.

OTHER THINGS ON THE 2020 HORIZON

Two coastal hikes. A surf camp. Promotion of BIPOC owned businesses. Taking a Power and Privilege course with Inner Activist. Studies with my teachers. Intentional time with my family. A sea kayak trip. Kundalini and meditation every damn day.

There you have it. What are you committing to this year?
